Mario Lemieux; #66 of the Pittsburgh Penguins – Centre. Tablet-drawn in TEGAKI-E. Finish time: 72 hours 2 minutes.
Drawn for PensUniverse
This year also happens to mark Pittsburgh’s 20th anniversary on winning their 2nd Stanley Cup, so I wanted to dedicate a portrait to the Penguins hockey club. I also plan to promote this portrait up until the Stanley Cup finals; I’m hoping other PIT writers will decide to feature this knowing it’s a special year for Pittsburgh…that and, c’mon…it’s Mario we’re talking about! This guy truly MADE the team what it is today. You can argue me til’ doomsday on this, but I’m only stating the facts when it comes to great leadership. He fought though back problems and even cancer; STILL came out as one of the top hockey players of all time. If it wasn't for his ailments, there’s no telling what records he could have set!
Anyhow, there’s no time for breaks…I’m suppose to be working on a STL Blues portrait, but I’m still undecided who’s going to be drawn next! I was told Perron or Oshie, and perhaps Backes…but…who knows. You’ll see in the upcoming weeks. Guess after that’s done I’m jumping strait into another Bruins portrait and or, a (gasp) CANUCKS portrait. Teehee~
Yep ^_^ Drawn without layers using tegakie, a layerless program that doesn't have hardly any tools. Very simplistic program, but efficient. I'm happy you think I'm amazing and loved the drawing. ^_^
Awww why, thank you! I really love how this turned out as well. I wish there was a way I could get this signed by Mario himself, but I don't know how people go about getting retired hockey players' signatures and whatnot...haha! Anyhow, thanks again for the comment. I'm truly honoured someone out there thinks my work is great.
