Wesley Vannieuwenhuizen; #5 of the Vancouver Giants - Defenseman. Tablet-drawn in TEGAKI-E. Finish time: 108 hours 11 minutes.
Born on April 20th 1992 in Chilliwack, British Columbia, Wesley Vannieuwenhuizen continues to grip his career to become a professional hockey player. Vannieuwenhuizen currently plays for the Vancouver Giants, a WHL team located in downtown Vancouver, BC. Playing under the Giants during the past two seasons, Wesley participated as alternate captain under Brendan Gallagher. He recently took over as the captain's role in the 2012-2013 season as Gallagher left to play in the AHL.
Wesley started to play hockey around the age of four. Previously in a season for the Surrey Eagles of the BCHL, Wesley played 57 games while scoring: 1 goal, 4 assists, and 119 PIMs (Penalty ice minutes). On September 9th of 2011, among 30 others pushing towards NHL careers, he was invited to attend a rookie camp in Edmonton, Alberta. Wesley took the offer to potentially make the Edmonton Oilers team; however he was cut from the camp selection shortly.
On December 1st 2012, Wesley scored his first goal of the current season against the Tri-City Americans around 10:02 of the first period; the Giants could not hold the tie to force overtime and lost the game 4-3. Regardless of their current record for the 2012-2013 season, Vannieuwenhuizen continues to prove his captaincy with poise amongst his team and fans alike.
haha awww yea, he is rather good lookin' ain't he? I was so fortunate to get this drawing signed by Wesley, too. Too bad I didn't get to meet him face to face to hear his input whether or not he liked it.
haha yea a lot of people mistake my work for photos. Don't worry, it's really a digital drawing. This (and my other portraits) are composed using no layers on a site called TegakiE. The most legit way I can offer my art since I can't afford traditional stuff.
Anyhow, thank you SO much for taking the time to comment my portrait of Wesley; glad to know some people out there really like my athletic portraits.
Awww wow, thank you very much! I really like how this turned out as well. I've always had issues with hair, so I made sure to put more effort this time around.
Yep, it's a digital portrait composed without layers using an Oekaki board called tegakie. And lol yes, thousands of people mistake my portraits for photos on a daily basis. It's a good thing I have my resume up for authenticity else nobody would believe I drew these. XD
